Laser welding system requires no laser protection cell

Scansonic has introduced the SCW (Safe Component Welding) laser welding optic that meets Class 1 laser requirements, eliminating the need for a laser protection cell.

A form nozzle encloses the welding area, preventing the escape of laser radiation. It is customized to the geometry of each workpiece to help ensure protection for operators without additional housing.

The new welding optic is based on the company’s FCW system, which uses high-precision 3D scanner technology. An integrated image recognition system covers a working area of 5 by 25 mm, allowing users to determine the welding position using a teach-in procedure.
